Dear family,

Less than two weeks of Middle School left for Zachari and Joshua. How I will then feel, with a full summer of house arrest ahead of me, will depend on the glass full/glass empty outlook I will have at a given moment.

Torrie and Levi should know that my Topsy Turvey upside-down tomato planter is performing well but hardly looks yet like the picture on the box. But out of an abundance of caution, I did plant a few in mother earth as back up..

May was a busy month church-wise. Joshua and Zachari were teacherized, installed as 1st counselor and president, respectively, of the teacher’s quorum, each participated in a youth baptism session at the Sacramento temple, and Zack gave his first talk in a sacrament meeting. He did well.

Healthwise, we are all doing well. Although I sense my hearing is slipping a bit and the light in my reading lamp is getting dimmer, there is nothing wrong with my memory. I can still vividly recall details of event that never actually occurred.

June 2011 - Bos, Kristy

May has been a long cold month here in Utah. It is Memorial Day and the weather temperature might reach 57 degrees and there will still be rain and manybe a little snow mixed in. However, the weather tomorrow is going to be 75 degrees. Go figure.

I have been silent for a few months but that is because I have continued to battle infections, etc. In short, "I've been sick," (said with a sad face and a bit of a whine.) This has been a 6 month long fun fest of doctors, meds, etc., but it seems the worst is over.

Kelly and Jilina have been living here in Saratoga Springs, with me, since February 24. They are making the adjustment, Kelly is getting stronger (she arrived very ill,) and Jilina is happily entrenched in school, softball, and Primary. Jilina, however, broke her foot.

June 2011 - Ekins, Justin & Emily

The month of May was a good one, with lots of new news to report. I'm continuing my research for my dissertation. This will probably analyze limited government movements throughout American history with careful study of the Tea Party. I'm also continuing research at The Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank in Washington DC. I'm working on projects on the Tea Party movement and credit rating agencies oligopoly. I also started a new job at the Reason Foundation doing their polling. I've found it to be really interesting since we are conducting nationwide public opinion polls like Gallup for public opinion questions.

Justin has some good news as he was just admitted to Harvard Business School. So this summer we're moving back to Boston. Fortunately I will be able to continue my dissertation research and polling work for Reason and be closer to DC to continue working with Cato. This is really funny in a way because my first job out of college was doing research at Harvard Business School and now we're moving back. We got an apartment right on campus, so please let us know if you're visiting the Northeast and come visit us!

June 2011 - McClintock, Robert & Susan

"June is Busting out all over" at least so wrote Rogers and Hammerstein for the musical 'Carousel'.

June holds special interest for this McClintock. The Telephone was invented in June. Charles Dickens died in June. The Battle of Midway was fought in June. The flag of Sweden was adopted in June. The G.I. Bill was signed into law in June. Kentucky and Tennessee were admitted as the 15th and 16th states into the Union in June. Superman came to be in June. Helen Keller died in June. The Beatles released the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Cub Band LP in June. Police chased O.J. Simpson's white Ford Bronco in June. Brigham Young was born in June AND………..tah-dah……..so was Emily! What more is there to say about June?

Oh, as far as May was concerned May was pretty much a bust for this McClintock. Osama was slain. Grandma Anna was diagnosed with Lewy Body Disease. Aunt Susan sang a brilliant solo in the Valley Choral Society's Spring concert series. Zack gave his first-ever talk in Sacrament meeting. The home garage underwent a major clean-out. And The McClintock went down to Los Angeles to visit Emily and Justin on Memorial Day Weekend. Just a ho-hum month.

June 2011 - Wilcox, Todd & Tracy & Family

Dear Family,

April has been a good month despite going back to work. I like being paid to stay home with the family, but all good things must come to an end. I was welcomed back to work with open arms and lots of work.

Easter was good (despite me having to work that day.) The Easter bunny left us lots of candy which was quickly disposed of. My husband and kids had a wonderful dinner at my sister-in-laws house, and I ate dinner at IKEA the Swedish way.

I have attached two of my favorite pictures, which were taken recently. The photographer did a great job, and I think I finally convinced my husband that the Sears portrait studio is just not good enough! There is no comparison to a real photographer in a real studio!

June 2011 - Woodward, Kevin & Tammy & Family

Dear Family:

This past month we have enjoyed a visit from Alexis, Maija and Averie while Ryan has been in China on a project for his masters of civil engineering program. With his evening Skype (the morning of the next day for him) we have been kept apprised of his travel schedule and experiences. As for the rest of the visiting Bessey clan, we have toured some of the sights here in Colorado Springs. We took in the Miramont Castle in nearby Manitou Springs, as well as the Territory Days celebration in old Colorado City (old town Colorado Springs). One particular highlight for us was a train ride through the Royal Gorge canyon alongside the Arkansas River. . Maija and Averie took a particular liking to the open-air car.

The month was full of graduations: seminary, institute and the local universities. We were treated from our back deck to our annual Thunderbirds airshow, as they participated in the Air Force Academy graduation ceremonies.

Rockies baseball is in full swing. With the All-Star game fast approaching, I'm hoping to hold on to my current slim margin of victory in the Baskin Robbins/Leatherby's summer wager extravaganza with Grandpa.

Looking ahead on the event radar, we have a week of Girls Camp up in the mountains, and the privilege to have a Saturday afternoon lunch with Elder Neil L. Anderson of the Twelve, who will be presiding over the conference of the neighboring Colorado Springs Stake.
